"In 1989, I was serving with the US military in West Germany. It was a
scary time as there was much unrest in Socialist USSR and their
Socialist satellites. We were uncertain if the Fulda Gap would be
breached. Our families had “Bug Out” bags packed should they need to
evacuate to the US. Tumultuous time, but we were trained, confident and
ready to defend against Socialism's advance. Then, The Wall fell.
Borders opened. Desperate families flooded across the border. I
witnessed it. The images are burned into my memory. Their faces
reflected hunger, depression, desperation. Those faces also reflected
awe, hope and a confidence that they were now free. Free. They cried.
The tears on their faces were tears of joy. The hope of Freedom can
make people cry. Now, nearly 3 decades later, we find Socialism on our
doorstep. Fostered from within. A false hope and fake promises.
Socialism's promises never deliver – no matter what promise you hear,
they NEVER deliver. Each time I hear a person overtly supporting
Socialism, I think back to those families pouring across that border in
Europe. The faces. The sunken eyes. The desperation. The hope of
Freedom. Don’t let anybody fool you into believing they can make
Socialism work in this country. They’re lying to you and know full-well
they cannot deliver. It seems that, anymore, a vote for a Democrat is a
vote FOR Socialism. Don’t believe their lies and promises. Don’t
permit that dark and sinister idea to infect the US. O'Rourke is
Socialism."
